  • Little Oak Montessori School, a private school in the Columbia Gorge, is seeking an AMI-trained Elementary Guide to take the lead of a well established (1st-6th) Elementary classroom for the 2025-26 school year. 

    This full time position requires a vibrant, genuine personality with exceptional communication and leadership skills; ready to guide the whole child in their activities academically, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. 

    Qualifications:

    • AMI Elementary Certification Required 

    • Bachelor’s Degree (preference given to those with a Master’s Degree and Washington State Teaching Certification)  

    • Experience working with Elementary aged children (6-12yrs)

    • Ability to effectively collaborate with students, families, staff, and board members

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Strong organizational skills and effective time management

    • The ability to understand and work with students having a range of learning styles

    • A commitment to active engagement within our Anti-Bias and Anti-Racist school community

    • Ability to commit to the position for a minimum of three years

    Compensation: This is a full time salaried position. Pay is based on experience & knowledge.

    Little Oak is located in White Salmon, Washington, a ten minute drive from Hood River, Oregon and one hour from Portland, Oregon. The Gorge is known for world class outdoor recreation, abundant local organic produce, and majestic Pacific Northwest beauty.

  • Little Oak Montessori School, a private school in the Columbia Gorge, is seeking an AMI-trained Children’s House Guide to take the lead of a new (3-6 year old) Children’s House classroom for the 2025-26 school year. Little Oak currently has two well established Children’s House classrooms and plans to open a 3rd Children’s House classroom in August 2025. 

    This full time position requires a thoughtful, genuine personality with exceptional communication and leadership skills; ready to guide the whole child in their activities academically, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. 

    Qualifications:

    • AMI 3-6 Certification Required 

    • Bachelor’s Degree (preference given to those with a Master’s Degree and Washington State Teaching Certification)  

    • Experience working with Primary aged children (3-6yrs)

    • Ability to effectively collaborate with students, families, staff, and board members

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Strong organizational skills and effective time management

    • A commitment to active engagement within our Anti-Bias and Anti-Racist school community

    • Ability to commit to the position for a minimum of three years

  • Position Overview:

    Job responsibilities include supporting an experienced Children’s House Guide in providing an excellent AMI Montessori experience for a class of 20 students ages 3 – 6.


    Key Responsibilities Include the Following:
    •    Preparing and maintaining the classroom environment
    •    Observation of students
    •    Playground and lunch supervision
    •    Material making

    Preferred Experience, Qualifications, and Attributes:
    •    Montessori Training, Bachelor's Degree in education or Early Childhood Education
    •    Experience working with young children
    •    A knowledge of Montessori preferred
    •    A collaborative and flexible approach to working with colleagues
    •    Organized with an attention to detail
    •    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
